Kurginyan: USA brings thugs to power under the guise of democracy

15.04.2022, Moscow.

The USA uses democratic rhetoric to replace leaders worldwide who pursue the policy of modernization and development in their countries with blatant thugs, said political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on April 12 on the Civilization Russia program on the Radio KP radio station.

“Today they say that we have authoritarianism as the axis of evil. Since when? What kind of nonsense is that? This authoritarianism was called ‘authoritarian modernization,’ and they made a religion out of it. They said about [President of Haiti François] Duvalier, a rampant bandit and dictator, that ‘he is a son of a bitch, but he is our son of a bitch!’ and that it was ‘authoritarian capitalism’” Kurginyan told about the USA’s attitude towards dictatorships after World War Two.

He noted that such leaders were not above committing blatant crimes as they enjoyed protection by the USA for their policy of “authoritarian modernization.”

“They said the same thing about all the others. Chiang Kai-shek with his torture prisons… with his son and Ray Cline sitting there [and supervising their activities], who was [director of the CIA Allen] Dulles’ deputy for intelligence. What was that? Democracy? No, that was authoritarian modernization,” the political scientist explained.

Kurginyan also stressed that USA’s attitude towards leaders who pursue a policy of modernization in their countries dramatically changed in 2000s, even towards the most moderate and obedient to the West ones.

“Now all of them, including poor [president of Egypt Ḥusnī] Mubārak who licked the West’s boots, were accused of authoritarianism and sentenced to elimination. They were replaced with furious thugs. Furious ones! Cannibals. And they were announced to be democrats!” this is how the political scientist assessed what is taking place.

According to Kurginyan, there is only one way to explain this: the USA is preparing to through the entire world into chaos hoping that this will ensure relative order on its own territory.

In the summer of 2005, speaking at the American University in Cairo, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that the United States pursued stability at the expense of democracy in Middle East for too long.

She further said that these attempts failed to give the USA the results it wanted, so the USA is ready “to abandon the excuses that are made to avoid the hard work of democracy.”
