Swiss military expert Jacques Baud admitted The strategic successes of the Russian armed forces, which have managed to take control of territory roughly equal to Great Britain on March 16 in an interview with the Investig’Action online platform, published on YouTube.
The expert noted that Russian troops’ strategy is to avoid battles over big cities because it is “pointless, a waste of time.”
“They go where they can pass. If you look at a map … we would see that the Russian army is bypassing all the big cities and keeping advancing. They are moving very fast. I haven’t seen such rapid advancement in history. In four days they have taken territory … equal to Great Britain,” said Jacques Baud.
The military expert specified that large cities are surrounded and blocked by the Russian troops. In the majority of cases, it is not regular units of the Ukrainian army, but territorial defense units and nationalist units like Azov (organization banned in the Russian Federation), which are motivated by Nazi ideology, that defend themselves in cities and large towns.
Since February 24, the Russian armed forces have been conducting a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
