After the demilitarization and denazification are completed, the Ukrainian people will be able to freely determine their future, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Magomedsalam Magomedov said in a commentary to RIA Novosti on March 4.
According to the official, over the past eight years the Ukrainian authorities openly abused the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine and the people living in the Donetsk and the Lugansk people’s republics. With the government’s support, an ideology of Nazism was enforced in Ukraine, and the territory was being rapidly militarized, which posed a threat to Russia.
“I am sure that this [denazification and demilitarization ― Rossa Primavera News Agency] will bring a new environment for the Ukrainian people to freely choose a peaceful future for their country,” Magomedov said.
The deputy head called the Russian citizens to unite for the defense of Russia’s national interests. Unity of the society is critical for the goals that the president outlined to be achieved.
As a result of a coup d’etat in 2014, nationalists and radicals came to power in Ukraine, who announced a policy of forced Ukrainization and breaking-up of ties with Russia.
The people living in Donbass rejected the new policy, and they announced independence from Ukraine. Kiev responded with a civil war against the people of the DPR and the LPR.
On February 24, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, upon a request for military assistance, initiated an operation to defend the people living in Donbass from genocide by the Ukrainian troops, and to ensure the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.
