Putin signs a law allowing the imposition of sanctions for discrimination against Russian citizens

04.03.2022, Moscow.

The federal law on the extension of sanctions on foreigners for violations of the rights of Russian citizens was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the press service of the Kremlin reported on March 4.

Previously, such sanctions could only be applied to US citizens who were involved in violations of the fundamental freedoms of Russian citizens. Now these measures can be applied to foreigners and stateless people.

The sanctions could include restrictions on entry into Russia, the seizure of assets, a ban on investments and property transactions, and the suspension of the activities of controlled legal entities.

The anti-Russian information campaign in the West intensified sharply in 2022. After the start of the special operation to force Ukraine to peace, Russians and Belarusians abroad were increasingly discriminated.
