Russian Foreign Minister: Russia does not feel politically isolated

03.03.2022, Moscow.

Russia is confident that its policy in Ukraine is right, because it defends its own security interests, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on March 3.

“We experience no lack of good will, but we cannot permit, and we will not permit, any blatant violation of our interests by physical threats to Russia’s security,” the minister said.

Lavrov also said that Moscow is confident that its policy is right.

The foreign minister reminded that anti-Russian sentiments have long been promoted in Ukraine in order to transform the former Soviet republic into “a vanguard for undermining everything Russian.”

According to Lavrov, “This was part of a major geopolitical game.” However, according to the minister, Russian cannot avoid reacting to the threat in the current situation.

Lavrov noted that Russia does not feel it is politically isolated.

“We do not feel that we are politically isolated,” Lavrov said.

The Russian foreign minister also reminded a statement by former US National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzeziński that “with Ukraine, Russia is a superpower, but Ukraine without Russia is nothing, a regional power.”
