03.03.2022, Chișinău.

Police must punish the vandals who desecrated the Viktoriya memorial to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the Molodaya Gvardiya youth organization of the Party of Socialists of Moldova said on March 3, according to the Argumenty i fakty v Moldavii newspaper.

“We, the patriotic young people, are committed not to permit this kind of treatment towards the symbols of the Great Victory of the Red Army. The law enforcement agencies must punish those responsible to the fullest extent of the law!” the statement says.

The unionists take advantage of the complicated situation in the region in order raise their rating using vandalism. No one can desecrate “the symbols of the Victory and heroic acts of courage of our people,” Molodaya Gvardiya said.

Pro-Romanian activists who seek to destroy Moldavia’s statehood regularly desecrate memorials to the heroic acts of courage of the soldiers and the people committed during the Great Patriotic War, the statement says.

Near the village of Leuşeni, Hîncești District, the Viktoriya memorial to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War was desecrated. Former defense minister of the republic, the leader of the PUN unionist party Anatol Şalaru claimed responsibility for this act of vandalism.
