Political scientist explains how UK uses London-Warsaw-Kiev axis

03.02.2022, Saint Petersburg.

The UK uses the London-Warsaw-Kiev axis to promote its ambitions outside the EU and strengthen its influence in Poland, said political scientist Egor Dibrov on February 1 in a comment to the Rossa Primavera News Agency.

“This London-Warsaw-Kiev position is a way to promote London’s influence in Poland,” Dibrov said.

Dibrov explained that in the context of the change of leadership in Germany, when questions to Germany’s anti-Russian policy arise, Poland becomes a more important site for London’s anti-Russian policy. Therefore, he noted, the UK uses Ukraine for rapprochement with Poland.

“After Brexit, the UK stressed that it has greater ambitions than it would have within the bloc (the EU ― Rossa Primavera News Agency),” Dibrov believes.

Besides, the political scientist noted that the UK is a leader of anti-Russian policy. For example, the UK sends weapons and instructors to Ukraine, and it actively participates in information pressure against Russia.

According to Dibrov, Russia can prevent these UK’s moves through intensifying its soft-power policy in the CIS countries and interaction with Western business interested in cooperation with Russia.

On January 30, UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that property of “Russian oligarchs” in London could be confiscated in the framework of new anti-Russian sanctions. The reason for the sanctions was the alleged preparation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
