Kurginyan: Bolsheviks sacrificed democratic “blathering” for the sake of being a superpower

26.06.2021, Moscow.

The Bolsheviks made the Soviet Union a superpower by sacrificing democracy, said political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on June 20 on the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov program on Russia One channel.

Bolshevism managed to take the country from about 7th-10th place in the world to second and win the war. Such a great achievement came about at the cost of democracy or democratic ‘blathering’”, said the expert.

Referring to the Bolsheviks’ rejection of democracy as a sacrifice on the altar of building a superpower, the political scientist responded to criticism that there was no freedom of speech and democratic elections in the USSR.

Now, the Russian economy is 7th place in the world, and the West continues to hate our country. This may lead to “the Crimean scenario, when any joint effort, or any powerful coalition can cause many problems for Russia”, recalled the leader of Essence of Time movement

During the Crimean War (1853-1856), the Russian Empire faced a coalition of the British, French, and Ottoman empires, as well as the Kingdom of Sardinia. As a result of the war, Russia had to cede the Kars Fortress to Turkey in exchange the southern part of the city and port of Sevastopol; as well as the mouth of the Danube and part of southern Bessarabia to the Moldavian principality.
