China’s alliance with Russia is based on pragmatic considerations, and China will not openly quarrel with the USA over Russia to preserve this alliance, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper issue 583.
Several Chinese banks stopped accepting yuan payments from Russia in mid-April. In March, Chinese exports to Russia fell by 16% year-on-year, the first such decline since mid-2022. This is happening against the backdrop of growing sanctions threats from the United States.
“From Beijing’s point of view, the alliance between Russia and China is absolutely pragmatic in nature. The Chinese will not jump into the Russian trench and openly quarrel with the USA. They will slowly and gracefully drift along the path of extracting the greatest benefit. It is not their style to sacrifice themselves,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
