Ukrainian army’s sniper kills DPR serviceman

A serviceman of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) was killed as a result of sniper fire opened by the Ukrainian army, the Donetsk News Agency (DAN) informed on May 4, citing the DPR People’s Militia.

“We regret to inform you that a defender of our Republic died as a result of sniper fire. We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the fallen serviceman,” DAN wrote.

According to the official website of the DPR People’s Militia, the incident occurred on May 3, 2021 – snipers opened fire on DPR positions near Kominternovo village. The targeted fire came from the direction Vodyanoye village under Ukrainian army’s control.

It was also reported that on 3 May, on the Mariupol direction the Ukrainian security forces fired 30 120mm and 82mm mortar shells on Sakhanka village and its surroundings. The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire 5 times over the past 24 hours.

Despite the escalation of the situation and frequent casualties both among servicemen and civilians, the DPR is preparing for the celebration of Victory Day of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. On May 3, soldiers of the People’s Militia and other security forces of the republic held a joint rehearsal of parade for May 9 in the main square of Donetsk.
