LPR People’s Militia destroys Ukrainian military’s firing points

10.03.2021, Lugansk.

After the Ukrainian military opened fire on the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) in Donbass and wounded a serviceman of the LPR People’s Militia (PM), the LPR PM destroyed Ukrainian firing points near Katerinovka village, a representative of the LPR PM officer Ivan Filiponenko said to reporters on March 10.

“Due to the fact that the enemy intensified fire and wounded our serviceman, as well as due to the need to avoid casualties among the civilian population, the defenders of the republic were forced to suppress enemy firing points in the area of Katerinovka village using weapons not prohibited under the Minsk agreements,” Filiponenko said.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military accused the LPR People’s Militia of violating the ceasefire. The officer called these accusations untrue and an informational provocation. According to Filiponenko, these accusations are an attempt by the Ukrainian army to justify their actions on the line contact line in the eyes of the international community.

“The headquarters of the Operation United Forces (OUS) accused the LPR People’s Militia of three violations of the ceasefire, which is not true,” Filiponenko stressed.

According to the officer, Kiev openly demonstrates the violation of international humanitarian law in Donbass by systematically shelling residential buildings. Filiponenko stressed that this is done with weapons supplied by the countries of the European Union and the United States.

“EU countries and the United States, which supply lethal weapons to the Ukrainian armed forces, which systematically and purposefully shell villages and houses of citizens of the republics, directly finance and encourage the terrorist actions of Ukraine against the peaceful inhabitants of Donbass,” he said.

On March 9, it was reported that Ukrainian security forces during the shelling of the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic wounded a serviceman of the LPR People’s Militia.
