Canonical churches seized near Vinnitsa

A priest was denied access to a canonical church near the city of Vinnitsa, Father Fyodor Rastorguyev said on January 11, UNIAN reports.

Father Fyodor, a church rector in the village of Lukashovka, explained that the locks in the church were changed and the chancel doors were blocked. The police found no crime in these events.

On Saturday, the villagers will decide to which jurisdiction their church should belong.

A total of 320 Orthodox churches are located near Vinnitsa. Twenty churches have defected to the schismatic church, and another ten will reportedly follow them.

On January 6, the Patriarchate of Constantinople signed the Tomos establishing autocephalous church in Ukraine. Later, the Tomos was withdrawn for approval by all the members of the Synod of the Constantinople church.

According to a number of experts, after the Tomos becomes effective, the Kiev authorities will use force to seize churches with the involvement of Ukrainian nationalists.
