Ukrainian Nazis hold hostage people in a maternity hospital in Mariupol

31.03.2022, Moscow.

Staff, women in labor and newborn babies were taken hostage by Ukrainian Nazis who laid siege to Maternity Hospital No. 2 in Mariupol, the press service of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic reported on March 30.

It is stated in the report that more than a hundred adults and 37 children took refuge in the maternity hospital in Mariupol, around which the Ukrainian nationalists have set up firing positions. The militants are shelling the area near the maternity hospital and preventing people from getting out and replenishing food, water and medical supplies.

“The situation is critical, medical workers are forced to deliver babies by candlelight and hide newborn babies in basements. One of them is already a month old, but he has never seen sunlight,” the People’s Militia reported.

The report specified that the Nazis shelled the maternity hospital every time the People’s Militia servicemen tried to evacuate the staff and women in labor or when they handed over food.

City combats in Mariupol have been going on for a month now, with the city being liberated by units of the DPR and volunteers from the Chechen Republic, supported by the Russian army.

The Ukrainian Nazis are desperately resisting and cover themselves from the return fire of DPR People’s Militia units with a human shield of local residents, who are not allowed to leave the city.
