Ukrainian neo-Nazis created “flying squads of death” in Kharkiv to intimidate civilians, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, Director of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said at a briefing on March 30.

“Terrorists of nationalist battalions have created so-called ‘flying squads of death’, which drive around the city streets in off-road vehicles, forcibly seized from civilians and transformed into ‘Bandera-mobiles’, and shoot indiscriminately with large-caliber machine guns at residential buildings in order to intimidate the citizens,” Mizintsev said.

The head of the defense center also noted that the Ukrainian nationalist armed units continue to place heavy military equipment in residential areas and to use residents as a human shield.

According to him, the militants are guided by a direct order from Kiev, which prescribes using any civilian property and equipment they need, entering apartments and setting up firing points in them, and at the slightest discontent of the owners, shooting them on the spot.

At the same time, the residents of Kharkov are being held hostage by the radicals and cannot leave the city through humanitarian corridors because their vehicles are being fired at.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The goal of the operation is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that the military occupation of Ukraine is ruled out. The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that Russian troops do not strike peaceful cities.
