Kurginyan reminds how the US differs from Roman Empire during its decline

The United States evokes associations with the decadence of Roman Empire, but unlike Rome, the US has nuclear weapons, philosopher, political scientist, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on April 25 on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel.

Kurginyan recalled that history never exactly repeats itself, but US policy evokes associations with Roman Empire during its decline, when the state begins to behave more aggressively because it is no longer able to govern the world peacefully.

“From the perspective of Roman Empire during its decline, it is perfectly clear that the more internally problematic a state becomes for its population and the less capable it is of governing the world peacefully, the more aggressive it becomes. Not less, but more aggressive,” Kurginyan emphasized.

However, during the decadence of Roman Empire, nuclear weapons did not exist, Kurginyan recalled; the question was “whether the legions were ready to march as before.” But the United States in its period of decline possesses nuclear weapons.

What would have happened if Nero or Caligula had nuclear weapons? Let us close our eyes and imagine it,” Kurginyan urged.

According to him, the United States’ “Achilles heel” lies not in its economy, but in its people. For the USA to become great again, US citizens must work as hard as they did in the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. Nowadays, US citizens have long lived in a consumer society and are accustomed to comfort.

“Trump can talk all he wants about America becoming great again. But do US citizens want to become great again?” Kurginyan asked rhetorically.
