Moldavia is trying to integrate into the anti-Russian agenda and become part of Romania, but there is also Transdniestria with hundreds of thousands of Russian nationals, and Moscow cannot make any concessions here, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 12 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
Host Anna Shafran indicated that Romania is buying key Moldavian infrastructure facilities. “They are about to purchase the Giurgiulești port, a military base, the Kishinev airport, and the Moldavian railways,” she noted.
Sergey Kurginyan replied that if the Moldavians want to become third-class citizens in Romania it is their problem and their trouble. But there is Transdniestria where hundreds of thousands of our compatriots live.
“Whether Moldavia becomes part of Romania or not, it is its own trouble. If it wants to be destroyed – okay, it will. If the Moldavians want to become untermensch – they will, the Romanians are good at that,” he stressed.
The Romanians use “racial approach” to the Moldavians treating them as subhumans, the philosopher added. And if the Moldavians want to experience that – “all of them including the Moldavian elite striving to get there” – then it will happen. “The fact that their president has a Romanian passport does not mean that she will not be treated as a second- or third-class person,” Kurginyan noted.
The political scientist also noted that historically the Romanians are notorious as punitive squads but not as soldiers, “they are inefficient in combat.”
“They are good punitive squads and moderate security services. But they are not really good at war. This is what practice shows. Maybe something will change,” Kurginyan said.
At the same time, there is the problem of Transdniestria, the political scientist reminded; it is very serious for Russia, and it will have to be resolved sooner or later.
“If anything serious happens there it will affect hundreds of thousands of people. They are our compatriots. They are people who have always been on our side. Who have suffered severe losses on this path. Even if anyone thinks that we can make some concessions to the West in this issue in order to gain some time, the costs of such concessions may overweigh the benefits,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement concluded.
