Kurginyan: The US can brand any country’s leader a “cartel boss”

Following the example set with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the United States can now brand the leader of any country a “cartel boss,” philosopher, political scientist, and Essence of Time‘s leader Sergey Kurginyan said on October 17 on the Conversation with a Sage program.

The White House claims that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and several high-ranking members of the Venezuelan Armed Forces head a global narco-terror network called the “Cartel of the Suns” (Cartel de los Soles). The cartel’s name supposedly comes from the sun insignia displayed on the epaulettes of high-ranking Venezuelan officers.

“They [the US authorities] invented, if I remember correctly, the ‘Cartel of the Suns.’ Nobody understands what this ‘Cartel of the Suns’ even is. Apart from the US officials, it’s their pure invention. They saw some officers with a sun symbol on their epaulettes and said: that’s the ‘Cartel of the Suns.’ Having said it’s a cartel, without proving anything, they declared Maduro the boss of this cartel along with the military, and then said: ‘Since he’s a narco-terrorist, he can be attacked, it’s not an invasion of a sovereign state or aт infringement of sovereignty. It’s combating the Cartel of the Suns’.” Kurginyan explained.

He emphasized that such “cartels” can now be “found” in any country in the world — providing a pretext for interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states under “legal grounds.”

“Just imagine, in any country, including Russia, they could find a ‘Cartel of the Stars’ or a ‘Cartel of the Milky Way,’ list its high-ranking officials, declare that the leader of state runs the cartel, and begin what they would call a legitimate persecution,” Kurginyan warned.

He added that the United States does this, being fully aware that its own Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) effectively operates as a “super drug cartel” itself.

The first mentions of the mysterious “Cartel of the Suns” surfaced in the US right after the death of Venezuelan revolutionary leader Hugo Chávez. At that time, the cartel was allegedly headed by Diosdado Cabello, then-president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, who US intelligence reportedly viewed as Chávez’s likely successor. Now, the mythical cartel is said to be led by Maduro — though Cabello, as the country’s “number two,” is also supposedly one of its bosses.

In September, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declared that “the Maduro regime is not the legitimate government of Venezuela,” calling it “a narco-terror cartel.”
