The Russian authorities will neither fight China nor surrender Iran for the sake of good relations with US President Donald Trump, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on September 20 on the Right to Know program on TV Center.
According to the political scientist, when Donald Trump became US president it was absolutely clear “what his policy would eventually be, and that there were certain constants that would not change, which will result in problems in our relations.”
At the same time, Sergey Kurginyan pointed out a positive aspect of any communication between Trump and the Russian administration, and he explained that such communications decrease the support of Ukraine and thus they are good for Russia.
However, the leader of Essence of Time indicated that there are political constants that can hardly be overridden, which pose problems in the Russian-American relations, and this is not Ukraine, according to him. As a first constant the political scientist named the attitude towards China.
“It is unlikely, I am using a colloquial hyperbole here, that we will fight China’s People’s Liberation Army. Such a crazy idea can hardly occur to any of our politicians, current or those who can loom on the horizon, regardless the extent to which they can be pro-Western, we will not do that,” Kurginyan said.
He pointed out another constant: the relations between Russia and Iran, and he stressed that “it is unlikely that we will strongly support any forces that have a really anti-Iran stance for ‘Great Israel,’”
“Indeed, we cannot see that kind of constants in our policy,” the political scientist noted.
