US President Donald Trump deliberately patted King of the United Kingdom Charles III on the shoulder during his visit to London to demonstrate the nature of relations between the two countries, philosopher, political scientist, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on September 20 on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel.
Sergey Kurginyan recalled that, according to the etiquette rules, the US leader had no right to do so. “He is there with people who are extremely experienced in the etiquette rules. He is been told over and over, ’Don’t do it, Donald, don’t do it, he’s not a cowboy, he’s a king,’” the political scientist emphasized.
Therefore, Trump did it deliberately to shock viewers. “He’s acting provocatively, and absolutely deliberately! There‘s no other explanation,” Kurginyan noted.
“This means that he is somehow attacking this entire UK political system and elite, being confident of the support of certain groups behind him,” the political scientist pointed out. “Americans really dislike the UK. This dislike is innate to them,” he added.
Kurginyan explained that “emigrants dislike the place they come from.” As an example, the political scientist used Israel, where people who left the USSR in the 1970s still hate Russia.
“The Americans, for example, have been explaining to themselves for centuries why they came into being. Why this independence came about, what it means, and how terrible it was before they become independent,” the political scientist explained.
Kurginyan emphasized that the idea of the UK being the US’s best friend is completely incorrect. He recalled Robert Ivanov, one of the leading Soviet scholar in American studies, was the one who described the examples of such hostility.
“Churchill begged Roosevelt, standing on his knees, not to destroy the British Empire. But Roosevelt made it his life’s work to destroy the British Empire,” the political scientist noted, citing the Soviet scholars who reveal this story.
Kurginyan explained that Trump came to the UK to clarify relations, “To see whether they submit to him or not, and in any case, to complicate matters in such a way that the process he needs would advance even further”
