Russian Armed Forces destroy largest Ukrainian grouping since start of Russia’s special military operation

The Russian Armed Forces destroyed the largest Ukrainian grouping since the beginning of the special military operation during the battle for Chasov Yar, TASS wrote on July 31, citing a source within the defense agency.

“In the battle of Chasov Yar, perhaps the largest grouping in the history of the special military operation was eliminated,” the agency quoted its source as saying. The source specified that thousands of Ukrainian militants were eliminated.

The liberation of the city lasted for over a year. By July 5, the Russian Armed Forces managed to push the enemy back to the western outskirts of the town.

According to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, the Ukrainian militants did not want to give up Chasov Yar to better prepare the defense of Konstantinovka and to prevent Russian troops from advancing toward the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.

These towns were surrendered without a fight on July 5, 2014, during the retreat of Igor Strelkov (Girkin) and the militia group he led.
