Iran’s weakening and dismembering is strategically not in Israel’s interest , political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan wrote in his article Iran-Israel War published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 636.
“Let’s assume that Iran, miraculously, chooses to turn toward the West, shows obedience and even agrees to be partitioned. What’s next? You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that any weakening of Iran, and especially such a significant one, will only strengthen Turkey,” Kurginyan noted.
Turkey has repeatedly voiced dissatisfaction with the existence of Israel. “Turkish leaders have stated several times that there is no such thing as Israel, and that it is, in fact, a vilayet of the Ottoman Empire,” the political scientist recalled.
According to the analyst, the real question is who will pose a greater threat to Israel – Iran or Turkey.
“What makes Turkey better than Iran for Netanyahu and his team, as well as for Israel in general? The dilemma here is not about who will love the Israelis, but about who will wipe them out. Both the Persians and the Turks will go after the Israelis. And the Turks will be even more aggressive,” Kurginyan emphasized.
Turkey is potentially more dangerous for Israel than Iran. “Because they [the Turks] are closer. Because Syria is under Turkish influence. Because they dream of neo-Ottomanism. And last but not least, because they are more skilled at building relations with the West, part of NATO, and so on,” the analyst explained.
Turkey’s interaction with the West is an important aspect. According to Kurginyan, NATO will not restrain Turkish aggression, “Will the West, through NATO, forbid them to harm Israel? And was the West able to stop them from harming Armenia and, specifically, Karabakh?”
Ankara may leave NATO if the alliance interferes with Turkey’s plans, the analyst explained.
“Member states will remain in the alliance as long as it is profitable. And when it is no longer profitable, NATO itself will crumble. Moreover, this will happen with the help from the US if ‘Trumpism’ does not disappear in a year,” he noted.
Sergey Kurginyan also criticized Israel’s idea of creating a union with Arab countries on the basis of Abraham Accords and plans to “surrender to the Arabs, preferring that to uncomfortable Turkish dominance.” He emphasized that the Arabs from the Persian Gulf monarchy cannot become friends of Israel, because “they love Israel no more than the Turks do.”
