A meeting between Ali Larijani, senior advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place in the Kremlin, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on July 20.
“President Vladimir Putin received Ali Larijani, senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the Kremlin today,” Peskov said.
According to the press secretary, the representative of the republic “conveyed his assessment of the escalating situation in the Middle East” to the Russian president and outlined the prospects for the country’s nuclear program.
Peskov explained that Putin spoke in favor of stabilizing the situation in the Middle East region, as well as resolving issues related to the nuclear program.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov announced the strengthening of practical cooperation with the Islamic Republic in all areas, including Iran’s defense capabilities.
