Commenting on the words of French Prime Minister François Bayrou, who announced the possible cancellation of public holidays in honor of Victory Day and Bright Monday in the labor calendar, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the French authorities are ready to sacrifice victory in World War II and Christianity, on her Telegram channel on July 20.
“The opening of the Olympic Games in Paris did not end with their closing — Satanism is progressing. The French have been offered to cancel two holidays in the annual work calendar: Victory Day (celebrated in Europe on May 8) and Bright Monday (in the French Catholic tradition — “Easter Monday”), which until now have been non-working days in France,” Zakharova wrote.
Zakharova said that at a press conference on July 15, French Prime Minister François Bayrou announced the possible abolition of Victory Day and Bright Monday as public holidays, thereby announcing a new anti-social measure in line with “unpopular reforms.”
Zakharova explained that Bayrou proposed to forget two symbols of culture, dignity, and morality of the French state and people.
According to Zakharova, after the opening ceremony of the Olympics in France in 2024, symbols sacred to Christians around the world were distorted. “There was no doubt that official Paris would continue its attack on Christian values,” Zakharova added.
And the cancellation of the celebration of the end of the war is a slap in the face to French veterans. The real France — the France of de Gaulle and the France of the Resistance — has nothing to do with those who support the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev and want to erase the memory of the victory over Nazism in World War II.
“How will the Roman Catholic Church and veterans’ organizations in France respond to the sacrifice of Christianity and the victory in World War II?” Zakharova asked.
Attempts have been made repeatedly to erase the memory of the victory over Nazism in World War II in France, including by renaming streets.
