Italy will not be able to participate in purchasing US weapons for Ukraine, La Stampa wrote on July 16.
According to the publication, the country lacks available funds for this purpose.
US President Donald Trump stated that the United States will continue supplying weapons to the Kiev regime, but that NATO countries will be the ones to purchase them from the US.
The initiative was supported by Germany, which announced it would buy Patriot air defense systems from the United States. However, France and the Czech Republic declined to participate in such purchases.
French President Emmanuel Macron urged Europe to strengthen its own defense industry.
