Israel deliberately targets the elite in Iran with whom it could make a deal, political scientist Sergey Kurginyan wrote in his article Iran-Israel War published in issue 636 of the Essence of Time newspaper.
According to the philosopher, in the current Middle Eastern conflict the Western countries should make their stake on the rural population of Iran, which strongly tends towards the Western lifestyle. In the Iranian cities, the Islam restrictions are treated in a peculiar way, and most of the prohibited things are moderately available.
“This is exactly what they should make their stake on! Along with the fact that the Iranian elite, pragmatic inside while demonstrating some sort of ‘multi-mullahcracy,’ would want to make peace with the West. And this elite wanted to make peace very much! It desperately wanted it. To this end, it gave away Syria, Hezbollah, some part of HAMAS, and much more,” Sergey Kurginyan explained.
The leader of Essence of Time believes that Israel is destroying exactly the elite with which it could make a deal. The Jewish state targets the military officers of the elder generation who saw the Iran-Iraq war and who do not want to have another major war; in their place, younger people are coming to the top positions, and they are strongly motivated for war.
“If the Israeli and the US also kill Khamenei (hopefully this will never happen, and the Iranian religious leader will survive), the last resource for agreement, in the persons of Khamenei himself and his son, will be gone, along with the mullahs and the RGC officers around them,” the political scientist believes.
