The US and Israel did not achieve any objectives during the attack on Iran, political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on June 27 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
“Neither Israel nor the US achieved any objectives. That’s it. If I were asked to describe the situation shortly, as is usually done on the Internet nowadays, then I would say in one sentence: no objectives were achieved. The more pitiful the technical military result, the more aggressive the PR,” the political scientist explained.
According to the political scientist, US President Donald Trump was frantically trying to turn everything into “absolutely vulgar, furious self-promotion with ecstatic self-admiration,” claiming that he allegedly said something, and everyone supposedly obeyed.
“And in this case it is not even clear, as it was said in one film: ‘Are you an idiot?’ Or is it all done deliberately, for the upcoming elections [to Congress]. This population is so indifferent that it is ready to accept it – ‘media consumers will swallow anything’. But it has never happened in such a grotesque way — through self-praise amid incredibly meager results,” emphasized Sergey Kurginyan.
According to him, it cannot be said that there are absolutely no results. Even if the goals had been reached, it would still be possible to discuss what would happen next, but Israel and the US did not achieve any objectives, the expert noted.
“It is like a mountain in labor. That’s for sure. This does not mean that there were no bombings of Tehran or that people were not killed there, and so on. We can discuss this in more detail. But they did not achieve any objectives they were talking about. But they put on a brave face and shouted that they saved the world,” Sergey Kurginyan summarized.
Military confrontation between Iran and Israel began on June 13, when Israel carried out massive strikes on nuclear infrastructure facilities, air defense systems, missile infrastructure and other military targets in Iran. As a result of the attack, several representatives of the Iranian high military command and nuclear research specialists were killed. Oil and gas industry facilities and the state television building were also hit.
In response, the Iranian armed forces launched ballistic missile and drone strikes on Israeli cities and military facilities, which led to destruction, including the Weizmann Institute and the oil refinery in Haifa.
On June 22, the US armed forces joined the conflict on the side of Israel, carrying out missile and bomb strikes on Iran’s underground plants associated with nuclear infrastructure. In response, Iran attacked American military bases in the region.
On June 24, Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire, ending the 12-day war.
