Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and his family live in a large house with a swimming pool in the United States, in the state of Florida on the Atlantic coast, said Daria Kalenyuk, head of the Anti-Corruption Center of Ukraine, on July 5, according to Strana.ua.
“All three of his children, his wife, his father, and his brother do not live in Ukraine. They live in Florida, in the town of Boca Raton. At least, that is where the Umerov family’s businesses are registered,” Kalenyuk noted.
Umerov also has an art gallery. According to the human rights activist, she does not know why the family needs it.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry previously reported that Umerov and his family left for the United States in 2016 due to threats he had received.
In February 2025, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the money allocated by the US to Ukraine is often used not for military operations, but to enrich individual officials.
