Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) discovered a cache with improvised aerial bombs for Ukrainian drones containing a banned toxic substance was discovered by in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the FSB press service informed on July 1 via the agency’s official website.
“The cache was discovered in cooperation with the Russian Defense Ministry near the village of Ilyinka in the Kurakhovka district. It contained improvised explosive devices filled with plastic explosives and chloropicrin, the use of which is prohibited under the Chemical Weapons Convention,” the FSB clarified.
In May 2023, a laboratory for producing hydrogen cyanide was found at abandoned Ukrainian positions in the DPR, and in October, a similar cache containing chloropicrin was also discovered. The FSB’s investigative department has opened a criminal case under the article on illegal handling of weapons of mass destruction. All such incidents are being thoroughly documented to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
On June 24, the FSB reported finding another mined cache belonging to the Ukrainian militatns near Selidovo in the DPR. It contained a large arsenal of weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles, grenade launchers, and ammunition. The discovery occurred during the clearance of territory after the withdrawal of Ukrainian militants.
