Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded the timely preparation of military bases and airfields for the deployment of new weapons systems on June 11 during a meeting on the state armament program.
“It is important to anticipate needs in advance and begin preparing infrastructure for the deployment of new weapons systems, including bases, arsenals, airfields, and so on,” stated the head of state.
He pointed out that the financial resources required for the construction and reconstruction of such facilities must be allocated as a separate line in the state program. The president emphasized that delays in preparing the necessary infrastructure — citing other budget items as reasons — negatively affect outcomes.
“What does this lead to? It leads to the emergence of new weapons systems, and then they end up standing in open fields and requiring faster modernization and additional costs,” Putin added.
At the same time, the head of state stressed that ground forces remain the dominant force on the battlefield, and their combat capabilities must be rapidly enhanced.
