An operation by the Russian Black Sea Fleet resulted in the destruction of radar and satellite equipment used by the Ukrainian militants on offshore platforms near the western coast of Crimea, Rossiyskaya Gazeta wrote on June 8.
Navy personnel, together with the volunteer unit Española, carried out a sabotage mission targeting Ukrainian infrastructure on gas extraction platforms in the Black Sea. Thanks to precision strikes, satellite communication and targeting systems — previously used to coordinate USV and missile attacks on Sevastopol — were neutralized. The operation was conducted swiftly and without any losses.
Three high-speed Raptor boats and maritime FPV drones named Ovod were used in the mission. These drones were launched from the mainland. The report highlights that “highly precision strikes were delivered by Ovod maritime FPV drones from the mainland.”
These drones feature built-in artificial intelligence, machine vision, and multi-layer protection against electronic warfare. Each drone follows a quadcopter design and carries up to one kilogram of payload. They are controlled via the Orbita system at distances of up to 11 kilometers or through fiber-optic cables.
