Russia has turned out to be the only country that has stood up against the Western dehumanization after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said in his Victory Day video address on May 9.
The political scientist noted that the Western development model, including consumerism, flies in the face of Russia’s historical mission, and Russia cannot adopt it without disastrous consequences.
“This ‘tidy protestant paradise’ does not suit Russia, and even if it comes to want it, it will receive only death… As soon as Russia wants 300 brands of cheese it will run out of bread,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The analyst explained that the contemporary Western world is “a kingdom of anti-hope” where freedom is reduced to misery and denial of ascendance. This model was forced on the post-Soviet territory, too, but it is Russia, for a reason that remains to be perfectly realized, has proven to be able to stand up and resist this.
“It turned out that, after this kingdom of anti-hope, this kingdom of domination over slaves, i.e. the kingdom of the West, NATO etc., after the collapse of the Soviet project, only Russia has stood up to resist… And it does not really understand what it is doing, trying to combine all this with something incompatible. Not China, not Iran, but Russia in this condition, which is dramatically far from the one in which it faced 1941,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The leader of the Essence of Time movement stressed that Russia’s resistance, although ambiguous and contradictive inside, bears “grace” because it revives the lost hope.
“Those born in hopeless years
Do not remember their path.
We, the children of Russia’s terrible years,
Cannot forget anything.”
‑ Sergey Kurginyan quoted Aleksandr Blok’s verses.
“We are painfully rising up the hill of the meaning, i.e. the hill of this great holiday,” Sergey Kurginyan added speaking about the meaning of the Victory Day and the historical path of our country.
The philosopher expressed confidence that Russia remains the center of hope for the whole humanity as it suggests its own will to the meaning in contrast to the West’s will to power.
“Again, we are raising the banner that was raised by Christ, supported by the revolutions and communism, and now has a different appearance. Perhaps, in a perplexity and confusion, and maybe in some illusion that it can be combined with something, still it is Russia that is raising it, proving it is the center of it…, that it is essentially an inner point of this hope attacked by the West that screams, ‘Long live death and dominance over slaves!’” Sergey Kurginyan concluded.
