Irkutsk Region authorities plan to honor citizens who tried to stop drone attack

Irkutsk Region authorities are considering awarding citizens who attempted to prevent a drone attack in the village of Sredniy in the Usolsky District, Governor Igor Kobzev wrote on June 2 on his Telegram channel.

According to Kobzev, videos have appeared on social media showing concerned individuals trying to prevent drone attack.

“As part of the regional crisis response team, we will assess their actions and make a decision on awarding,” Kobzev noted.

The governor added that the situation in the Usolsky District is currently calm, with no threat to the population. However, access restrictions remain in effect at the site of the incident.

On June 1, a military facility in the village of Sredniy, Usolsky District, Irkutsk Oblast, was targeted in a drone attack. One of the drones struck an old building in Novomaltinsk. The UAV attack was launched from a parked truck. Kobzev emphasized that this was the first such attack in Siberia.
