About 175,000 contract soldiers have joined the Russian armed forces since the beginning of 2025, said Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, during a meeting on May 28 dedicated to the issue of replenishing the Russian armed forces with contract soldiers. A video recording of the meeting was posted on Medvedev’s account in VK.
Medvedev said, speaking about the results of the recruitment of the Armed Forces in 2025, that “as of today, almost 175,000 military personnel have arrived at military units.” He added that “more than 14,000 people have been accepted into volunteer units since the beginning of the year.”
According to Medvedev, “the situation is fundamentally different for our opponents,” which, in his words, “shows the real state of affairs.”
Earlier, it was reported that in 2024, “almost 440,000 people signed up for military service.”
