Indonesia allocates grant to Palestine for specialist training

22.05.2025, Jakarta.

The government of Indonesia, through the Indonesian Agency for International Development, signed an agreement to allocate a grant to Palestine, according to a statement by the country’s Foreign Ministry cited by ANTARA on May 22.

According to ministry’s spokesperson Rolliansyah Sumirat, the agreement includes a scholarship program for plastic surgery specialists and an agricultural grant to train Palestinians in avocado cultivation.

The grant was implemented in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD).

The diplomat emphasized that the international community must continue efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Palestinians. The training received by Palestinians will help them cope with existing challenges.

“If possible, we will send experts there or, more likely at this stage, bring specialists from there to train in Indonesia,” Sumirat stated during a briefing in Jakarta.

CEAPAD is a forum established by Japan to encourage East Asian countries to contribute to the peace process in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine, and to support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The forum aims to promote cooperation, investment, and the exchange of development experience between East Asian countries and Palestine.
