Head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service states that the West wants to change the power in Russia and break it into pieces

14.05.2025, Russia.

Russia’s opponents are irritated by its greatness and want to change the state authority in the country, Sergey Naryshkin, chairman of the Russian Historical Society (RHS) and director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, said at a round table dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the end of the intervention and occupation of Northern Sakhalin by Japan on May 13.

He said that, as a century ago, Russia’s rivals are irritated by its size, grandeur, and human and natural wealth. They “still nurture dreams and even plans to change the state authorities, the state leaders,” Naryshkin emphasized.

Inside the country, their aspirations are shared by small groups of “urban lunatics,” Naryshkin said. He noted that the majority of such citizens have freed the territory of the country from their presence.

However, these people continue to make plans to split Russia into several parts and they have the support of the West, so the process continues, the foreign intelligence chief said.

Naryshkin noted that the study of history, including the events of the liberation of Northern Sakhalin from Japanese occupation remains relevant. It is necessary to draw the right conclusions from the events of the past and make the right conclusions.
