Threats toward Russia from European leaders who visited Kiev on Saturday are unreasonable, stated Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on May 10 on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Medvedev emphasized that French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk were supposed to discuss peace in Kiev. However, instead of that, they “are blurting out threats against Russia.”
“Either a truce for the respite of Banderite hordes or new sanctions. You think that’s smart, eh?” Medvedev wrote.
During a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council n January, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Ukrainian conflict can only end with a long-term peace, while a brief truce would serve as a pause for Kiev to regroup and rearm in order to prolong the war.
A peace agreement on Ukraine, the Russian president emphasized, should be based on “respect for the legitimate interests of all people, all nations living in this region.”
