Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Cuban leader Miguel Diaz-Canel in the Kremlin, the presidential press service reported on May 7.
The meeting was held in the St. Catherine Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. The Russian and Cuban presidents exchanged handshakes.
It should be noted that in 2024 the meeting between Putin and Diaz-Canel also took place during the days of the Great Victory. This year, the Cuban president arrived in Russia on May 4. He visited St. Petersburg, where he held a number of meetings and took part in a number of events. On May 6, he flew to Moscow.
Note also that May 8 marks the 65th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Russia and Cuba after the victory of the Cuban Revolution. On May 7, Diaz-Canel and Speaker of the Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko took part in the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the restoration of Russian-Cuban diplomatic relations.
