Kurginyan: Left-wing parties in Europe and the US have degraded totally

02.05.2025, Moscow.

In parallel with tremendous degradation of the US Democratic Party and the European democratic parties that rejected the ideas of humanism, a similar tremendous degradation of leftist movements in the West took place, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on April 18 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.

The US Democratic Party, starting from the moment when the USSR collapsed, began to drift away from the humanistic ideals and the idea of the development of Man, the political scientist noted.

“Worshiping death, the gods of death, enjoying any perversions including extreme pathologies, lifting all the taboos –the Democratic Party and its sponsors have been doing all this throughout the entire post-Soviet period,” Kurginyan explained.

The philosopher stressed that “in parallel with the tremendous degradation of the US Democratic Party and the European democratic parties, a similar tremendous degradation of leftist movements in the West took place.”

At the same time, Kurginyan stressed that Joseph Stalin, a leftist leader, never attempted to undermine families, and he never supported perversions. “In contrast, at certain moment the classical Soviet ideal was highly moral, and it maintained an outstanding moral level, a level of belief in Man, in development, in education,” the philosopher reminded.

“But this ideal is gone,” Kurginyan stressed.

Having abandoned the ideas of humanism, the West began to immerse into the ideas of post-Modernity, post-humanism. The philosopher noted that in this situation a leftist group “will not be Bolshevist or Soviet in any way, it will not be communist, but it will be anarchist.” “It has a powerful trend towards anarchism,” he stressed.

Sergey Kurginyan noted that we must understand the difference between Bolshevism and anarchism, which is “in their attitude to Christ and to getting out of the hell.”

The essence of the difference between these political movements is in their attitude “to one Christian event, when after his crucifixion and sacrifice he went down to the hell in order to take sinners out of there,” the political scientist indicated. This is the Bolsheviks’ concept. For anarchism, the idea is to excite a riot in the hell.

Kurginyan reminded that French communist poet Louis Aragon wrote:

“The hell exists! And millions live in it. The hell exists! And you are watching it. The hell is worker down on his knees…”

A similar message was in the text of “Worker’s Marseillaise” that the Russian revolutionaries sang, “We will go to our suffering brothers.”

The philosopher explained that the revolutionaries believed that the most important thing was to take their “suffering brothers” out of the hell.

“It was the ideal of suffering brothers, the people etc. whom this intelligentsia had to take out of the hell,” Sergey Kurginyan stressed.
