Kurginyan: India is watching Canada’s pandering to the Sikhs

30.04.2025, Moscow.

India is watching very closely the conflict between the US and Canada, because Canada absorbed a very large group of the Sikhs, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on April 4 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.

The political scientist reminded that the Sikhs are a major Indian Islam group mostly residing in the Indian state of Punjab. The Sikh movement made an attempt to establish an independent state of Khalistan. Then, according to the political scientist, “the Indians’ reaction was extremely fierce. An assault of the Sikhs’ main temple took place.” In response to the assault operation against the Golden Temple in 1984 that took almost 100 thousand lives, the Sikh guard of the Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, whom she trusted, killed her.

“The Sikhs began to migrate to Canada in small groups, and Canada welcomed them,” the political scientist explained. He added that the Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau had a special attitude to them, “Sikhs, Sikhs… India suppresses the Sikhs, but we love them.” Canada really tolerated the Sikhs, and even when a Sikh Khalistani terrorist exploded an airplane with 95% of Canadians on board, “Canada showed no reaction,” Sergey Kurginyan noted.

“When Indira Gandhi was killed, they showed no reaction, too, etc. Thus, Trudeau’s father had a major friendship with the Sikhs, and now Trudeau junior revives this friendship,” he said.

The political scientist indicated that India is very closely watching the relations between the US and Canada. “They now disagree on many issues, but on the other hand, it is a lovers’ quarrel,” Sergey Kurginyan noted.
