Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to the special forces of North Korea. His message was published on the Russian leader’s official website on April 28.
“We pay tribute to the heroism, high level of special training, and selflessness of the Korean warriors who, shoulder to shoulder with Russian servicemen, defended our Motherland as their own. They fulfilled their duty with honor and valor, covering themselves with everlasting glory,” the statement reads.
Putin emphasized that the Russian people will never forget the feats of the North Korean soldiers and will always honor those who fell fighting side by side with Russian soldiers for the liberation of the region. He also expressed his gratitude to North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un, the country’s leadership, and the people of the republic.
The President underlined that the Korean servicemen acted in accordance with international law and the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea.
On April 26, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov acknowledged that officers and soldiers of the Korean People’s Army participated alongside Russian soldiers in the liberation of Kursk Region from the Ukrainian militants.
On April 28, North Korea officially confirmed the participation of its soldiers in combat operations on Russian territory.
