Kursk Region was completely liberated, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 26, according to the presidential administration’s press service.
The President congratulated the soldiers and commanders of the Russian army that participated in the liberation of the region, thanking them for their service.
“The complete defeat of the enemy in the Kursk border area creates conditions for the further successful actions of our troops on other key sectors of the front,” the Russian leader stated.
The day before, Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said that the final clearing of the Kursk Region from Ukrainian occupiers was a matter of the near future. The operation was entering its final phase.
