Christian Democratic Union (CDU) leader Friedrich Merz should understand that a strike by German Taurus missiles on Russian facilities will be considered as a direct participation of Berlin in the conflict on Kiev’s side, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on April 18.
She recalled that a strike with these missiles is impossible without the direct participation of Bundeswehr servicemen. Zakharova emphasized that given this, any strike on Russian transportation infrastructure facilities will be “considered as a direct participation of the FRG in the hostilities on the side of the Kiev regime.”
For Berlin, this will entail all the ensuing consequences, the diplomat noted. At the same time, she added that the phrase “on the side of the Kiev regime” is conditional, because Kiev is not a separate party, but a tool of manipulation of the West.
Zakharova recalled that Merz mentioned the Crimean bridge as a possible target for the missiles.
