The response to official Tokyo’s joining the work of the NATO Center for “security” in Ukraine will be tough and decisive, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on April 10.
“Any steps by Japan to directly or indirectly participate in supplying Ukraine with arms and military equipment to be used to kill Russian citizens, to assist in training Ukrainian fighters are considered by us as unambiguously hostile. In case of their realization, our tough measures will inevitably follow, which will cause significant damage to Japan’s interests in the most sensitive areas for it,” Zakharova said.
On April 8, Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani said that the country plans to join the NATO Center, which is tasked with coordinating and supplying equipment to Ukraine, as well as training Ukrainian soldiers.
