The Russian State Duma ratified the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran on April 8, according to the State Duma’s press service.
The deputies voted unanimously in favor of ratifying the treaty. The strategic partnership treaty was signed on January 17, 2025, during the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Russia.
It is noted that the treaty establishes the mutual intention of both parties to deepen and expand relations in all areas, and to strengthen cooperation in the fields of security and defense. The document also confirms both countries’ commitment to close coordination of activities at the regional and global levels.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and Iran will strengthen the relations between the two countries both in bilateral cooperation and in coordination of actions on the international stage.
The treaty is concluded for 20 years, with a provision for extension.
