Russian President Vladimir Putin supports a ceasefire in Ukraine, but several issues must be resolved beforehand, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on April 7.
“Putin supports the idea of the need for a ceasefire, but before that, a whole series of issues must be addressed. These issues remain unressolved, and so far, no one has provided answers,” Peskov emphasized.
In March, Putin stated that Russia supports ending hostilities in Ukraine, but the ceasefire must lead to a long-term establishment of peace in the region, which requires addressing “the original causes of this crisis.”
On March 18, 2025, an agreement was reached to halt mutual strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days. Russia is fully complying with this agreement, but Kiev is completely ignoring it.
Between April 6 and 7 alone, the Ukrainian militants carried out seven attacks on Russian energy facilities in the Bryansk, Voronezh, Rostov, Kherson regions, and in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
