The United States is preparing a large-scale attack on Iran with the possible use of nuclear weapons, Vzglyad newspaper wrote on April 7.
According to the information, the proposed date for the start of the conflict is May 1.
“Washington is deploying additional military forces to the region: the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman will be joined by the Carl Vinson, and seven B-2A Spirit strategic bombers were redeployed to the Diego Garcia base,” military experts noted.
The main reason for the conflict is Iran’s refusal to accept a US ultimatum to scale back its geopolitical projects in the region. “Tehran views these demands as humiliating and unacceptable, as they affect key elements of national security,” Middle East expert Kirill Semenov said.
Experts outlined possible scenarios for the conflict. “In a massive strike, US and Israeli forces could destroy all of Iran’s ground-based air defenses within a day,” said Andrey Klintsevich, head of the Center for the Study of Military Conflicts. Iran’s underground facilities pose a particular challenge, access to which may only be possible with the use of tactical nuclear weapons.
The escalation began with a US ultimatum delivered via the UAE on March 7. However, Tehran responded through Oman, demonstrating its distrust in the proposed format of negotiations. The main point remains the sanctions, which were not lifted after the nuclear deal was canceled under Trump.
Iran possesses capabilities for an asymmetric response. “Strategic missiles and UAVs can strike ten US bases in the region and up to 50,000 troops,” warned IRGC Air Force commander Amir-Ali Hajizadeh.
Any initial strike by Iran could be used by the US as justification for radically escalating its pressure, including the potential use of nuclear weapons. Experts warn of global consequences from such developments, especially for countries in the region, including Russia.
