Kurginyan: British Empire created radical Islam

03.04.2025, Moscow.

Radical Islam in the colonies was created by the British Empire itself in order to govern these colonies, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on March 21 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.

“By the moment it all was taken under Western control, the West strongly wanted to radicalize Islam,” the political scientist noted.

Kurginyan explained that, for example, the origins of such a movement as Moslem Brotherhood (organization banned in Russia) stem from the British responsible for the Suez Canal zone. The formation of this movement began under the rule of Lord Cromer, consul of Egypt, and it continued under his successors. As a result, in 1928, Moslem Brotherhood (organization banned in Russia) appeared, and their first mosque was built in the Suez Canal zone.

The political scientist noted that the network of Moslem Brotherhood (organization banned in Russia) spread to various countries, in which branches of this organization appeared.

“It was clear that the British Empire did that in its own interests. And that it did it to keep its colonies, and that the key role in this process was given to the East India Company,” the political scientist added.
