Russian troops nearly complete liberation of Kursk Region from Ukrainian militants

The border areas of Russia’s Kursk Region were almost entirely liberated from the Ukrainian militants, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy said on April 3 during an informal Arria-Formula Meeting of UN Security Council.

According to Polyanskiy, the operation to reclaim the borderlands began on March 8, when the  Russian Armed Forces executed a unique maneuver, infiltrating deep into enemy territory. The sudden attack caught Ukrainian units off guard, forcing them to retreat.

Polyanskiy also noted that the swift actions of Russian troops prevented  Ukrainian militants from concealing evidence of their crimes against civilians. He emphasized that almost the entire region is now under Russian military control.

Russia’s military operation Potok, which concluded on March 8, led to the liberation of the city of Sudzha from Ukrainian militants. Over the course of nearly a week, more than 800 Russian soldiers advanced through a gas pipeline to penetrate 15 km behind enemy lines, operating under conditions of limited oxygen.
