Vladimir Putin has submitted a treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Iran for ratification to the Russian State Duma, according to a statement published on the official website of the Russian State Duma on March 27.
“To ratify the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran,” the document reads.
The agreement was signed on January 17, 2025, in Moscow.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran had decided against holding direct negotiations with the US government for the time being.
Araghchi emphasized that the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is clear: Tehran rejects talks with the United States under pressure and in light of Washington’s previous policies.
