More than half of Poles are not ready to take advantage of voluntary military training announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk in early March, according to an Opinia24 poll for RMF FM published on March 25.

Respondents were asked: “Are you willing to undergo such training?”

The responses showed that 35% are willing to participate in voluntary military training, with 14% definitely willing and 21% somewhat willing. More than half of Polish men and women hold the opposite view – 54%. Of these, 33% responded “definitely not” and 21% “rather not.”

According to the survey, 18% of men would definitely like to take advantage of the government-proposed military training, while 23% said they would somewhat like to.

Among women, this desire was expressed by 10%. The highest number of those willing to undergo military training is among people aged 50-59: 38% of them answered “definitely” and “somewhat” willing.

Regarding political preferences, 15% of supporters of the Law and Justice party would definitely participate in military training. An unequivocal “yes” to military training was given by 21% of supporters of the Civic Coalition.

The largest number of those willing to undergo voluntary military training is among supporters of the Third Way party: 15% said a definite “yes” and 35% “to some extent yes” – totaling 50%.

The poll was conducted using Opinia24’s own methodology on a representative sample of 1,000 people from March 17 to 21.

Computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) and online interviewing techniques were used. The sample reflected the socio-demographic characteristics of Poland’s adult population (18+).
